Join our crew for a memorable river experience

The Southern Comfort is a double-deck paddle boat purpose built for the Broads with a capacity of 100 passengers for public trips or private hire.
Our boat is a luxury river cruiser which runs regular trips from the beautiful village of Horning, along the River Bure through the village and out to Ranworth Broad and back, passing lovely old thatched houses, windmills and Norfolk reed beds.
During the trip there is excellent commentary and continual pointing out of all the wildlife around at the time. There’s the ever present bustle of river traffic with cruisers, yachts and the occasional wherry.

The perfect way to discover Broads wildlife
There are a many number of water fowl you might see on the Norfolk Broads including many species of ducks, swans and geese (such as Greylag, Egyptian and Brent). Herons are another bird that you may see, although you have to look carefully as they are often statue like on the banks of the Broads, looking for a fish to catch. You may also see them flying prehistoric like overhead.
If you see a flash of blue darting before you it may be that you have spotted a Kingfisher flying close to the waterline or one sitting still near the bank. Soaring above the reeds you may spot a Marsh Harrier, a large bird of prey whose home is in marshland areas and reedbeds. A mammal you may see during you time visiting the Broads is an Otter, it is a shy, timid creature but watch out for a trail of bubbles in the water or a sudden splash, it might just be them.
One extremely illusive bird we have here is the Bittern. More likely to be heard than seen, with its reed coloured feathering it is a master at blending into its environment however its giveaway is its call, a booming sound that can travel an impressive two miles.
